wow, where has the time gone?

Joan RainvilleComment

Just like everyone else at this time of the year, I've been in a state of go, go , go and haven't had the time (nor desire, I must admit) to work on my site. I've had some commission work for wreaths and scarves which are completed. Our oldest daughter is returning to Kenya next wk to do medical outreach for 2 wks and I've been involved with helping raise money for medical supplies. Now I need to address some medical issues of my own which will include some housing modifications. So, any free time will be spent doing my favorite things-spending time with our grandson and creating wall hangings. I will see if I can find someone to bring this site up to date. Of course family and friends always come first and it looks like another busy summer!  Check in next month and I'll try to do the same...no money on it......

Good early morning.

Just returned from GFWC Jr. Woman's annual conference-great day.Haven"t had any time to work on this site. By popular request I have been making scarves with matching pins. Also making scrapbooks for upcoming baby showers. and filling requests for wreaths. I'll see what I can do this wk. I want to put scarves for sale. Need to correct some things as well. Got to get some sleep. Good night.

Sorry it's been so long, but as usual, I've been very busy. I've not only been working on my projects, but I've also been spending more time on GFWC woman's club activities, including conferences. I decided on Monday to take a table at the craft fair at Parker Middle School. It's being held on Saturday, the 12th from 10-2 pm. I'll be selling wreaths and scarves with matching pins. I'll also bring one sample of my wall art.

gotta run, more later

It's been a long time

Well, what can I say? I've been very busy and now have a good inventory of wreaths. I completed the horse picture which is titled, "Triple Crown". Started to make a few scarfs to give as gifts to my very good friends who are always there to help me. Don't  you know, one of those friends dropped by and `I've already had a call asking when I was going to start  selling them. I'll have to give this some serious thought. I'm going right now to sleep on it  Good night!

oh, almost  forgot, it was about 1:12 a.m. on this date, that I gave birth to our first child. Happy Birthday son!

Well another hour with Susan- she calls it fun- I'm not there yet..it's still work, but I am learning. We added color and adjusted some text and content. I need to take pictures of my wreath inventory to post.

I've been busy working on accessories for costumes for the students in middle school who are putting on "Guys and Dolls". It was that or alterations. I'd rather make an outfit from scratch than to do an alteration. I feel the same way about puzzles. To me puzzles are a nice picture that someone cut up and now want me to fix. I don't find them challenging, although my mother had some that no doubt were. I'd just prefer to do something else with my time. Of course if you are working on a puzzle and I come to visit you, I'll join in, but only because I want to be with you, not working a puzzle. I diverge,  Tomorrow will be another diversion, as I'm going out with friends. I sold a wreath today so I have some $. Yea! Well I need to add one more thing to some Xmas stockings I decorated for another good friend. Hope to finish my latest wall hanging by next week: can't wait to show you! Later friends...Oh, almost forgot, I have an appt. in Boston on Thursday - the day of the projected storm- Oh, retired people are always complaining of being too busy: guess I'm in good company...

another day

Well, some time has passed since I've had time to write. I've been busy scoffing up end of the season supplies so that I can work on projects during the summer. I hope to have a good supply of Fall and Winter wreaths by Labor Day. My wall hangings thus far, have generally not been holiday themed so much as seasonal. I've made some changes to the page about me. My partner pointed out that it read as if I just suddenly began sewing. So now it's a bit longer and maybe a bit more boring. On the other hand, when I see all the tripe that floats around on "social media" my stuff ain't so bad... Oh, did I tell you, I received a Dragon system for Christmas. Yes, I'm going to try my hand at writing. I even know the story I want to tell. I don't want to start until I finish this project. I think you understand. I think you might know by now how easily I can get distracted, that distraction is just an excuse for procrastination. Yes, I can admit all this because, after all, I AM retired and don't need to do a single thing that I don't want to do. And that's a fact!

Picked up and dropped off a wall hanging at the Trescott Art Gallery. Took pictures today of more wall hangings and most of wreaths. Ready for tutorial from Susan to get them into my gallery. Later this week though; GFWC mtg tomorrow-putting together valentine bags for veterans and nursing homes. I forget how many thousands we made last year-lots and lots... Also getting together with friends to work on comfort dolls for children in emergency situations. Think I'll have a snack and turn in for the night. Later....

week 3

Well, I've been busy but not working on this site. Most of the changes have been done by Susan, bless her! She has downloaded all the wall hangings that have been photoed. There are a few more to be done. One needs to be picked up at the Trescott St. Gallery and one was recently shown at the Taunton Art Association where it won an honorable mention.

Now I have to get busy labeling the wall hangings.

Susan just left and has given me plenty of homework to keep me busy through the long holiday weekend. She doesn't seem to understand that I prefer to play and be with friends and family; after-all, I am retired. I did enough time sitting at a computer when I was employed. There I go, complaining again. Well, I think I'll go make that birthday cake for tomorrow. I'll be in better form to tackle this project once that's done. Maybe I'll do a little sewing too. The horses are finished and ready to be sewn onto my latest wall hanging. The piece is nearly completed and has been given the title"Triple Crown". The scene is 3 horses in a field at sunset. The crowns are within the landscape. Lots of fun! I hope to have pictures of all my work posted by next week. Only a fraction are posted now. Stay tuned.

web construction

They tell me the best  way to show my work is through a web site. So bear with me as I undertake the task of building this site, which is all new to me.  I've never liked clerical work and this seems like one big headache project. I have so many other things going on, that it is easy to put this on the back burner. However, between my son Ed and friend Susan, they are keeping me on task. I was given homework this morning and thought I had a week as in the past. But no, Susan wants to meet again later this week. How will I ever finish the horse I am working on? My social agenda is also full this week. Mtg with friend for dinner tonight.  Planning birthday party on Friday and GFWC mid-winter conference on Sat. Oh, almost forgot::hairdresser's appt. too. I'd better get to work and stop complaining. I'm sure I'm not the only old dog trying to learn new tricks!
